Within the scope of the European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) project, Nemrut Crater Lake, located at an altitude of 2,247 meters and awarded the “Excellence Award,” takes on different kinds of beauty in every season with its striking scenery.
Attracting attention with its hot and cold lakes, ice cave, steam vents, diverse bird species, brown bears, and rich biodiversity, the Nemrut Caldera hosts nature lovers, photographers, and campers throughout the year.
These days, Tahsin Ceylan and the Coast Guard DEGAK Teams captured aerial and underwater footage of Nemrut Crater Lake, Türkiye’s largest crater lake, as it blends with the caldera’s lush green cover.
Stating that Nemrut Crater Lake is situated at 2,247 meters, Ceylan said:
“Named after the Babylonian King Nimrod, the lake is Türkiye’s largest crater lake with an area of 12 square kilometers. This is a place with the potential to become a high-altitude diving center.”
Abdullah Yeltirik, Commander of DEGAK Special Team 25, noted that they carried out an enjoyable high-altitude dive at Nemrut Crater Lake and added:
“In addition to our activities at sea, we will continue to gain new experience through high-altitude dives. This is an exceptional location where we can provide altitude training to diver students at our Underwater Training Centers.”
