Sapling Planting Event by ASAD

A sapling planting event was carried out in the Tatvan district of Bitlis by the Anatolian Underwater Research and Sports Association (ASAD).

As part of the event, held with the participation of ASAD President Mehmet Salih Aygün and association members, saplings were planted along the banks of Sapor Stream, one of the main tributaries feeding Lake Van. Within the scope of the “Be a Breath for the Future” campaign, hundreds of saplings donated by Eren Holding, one of Bitlis’s philanthropic families, and the Bitlis Education Promotion Foundation (BETAV) were planted by ASAD members.

Providing information about the event, ASAD Chairman of the Board Mehmet Salih Aygün stated that preserving the nature entrusted to us and passing it on to future generations without harming it is a responsibility. Noting that hundreds of saplings donated by Eren Holding and BETAV were planted within the scope of the campaign, Aygün said:

“We are carrying out afforestation along the banks of Sapor Stream—one of the main arteries of Lake Van—in a way that helps prevent soil erosion. As ASAD, we will make every effort for a cleaner environment, cleaner water, and a more livable city. Planting saplings is one of the most beautiful actions we can take for life. We all know how much beauty it adds to the land we live on. Therefore, we must plant trees. A tree means enabling and sustaining life. Trees are of immense importance for all living beings, especially humans. They purify the air, provide more oxygen, protect against erosion, offer habitats for other creatures, and beautify the environment. Their benefits are countless. Let us plant saplings and contribute to our country and nature, so that future generations can breathe.”
