With its low light pollution and clear atmosphere, Bitlis offered a unique observation experience for nature and space enthusiasts. After a long period of overcast weather, the clearing skies allowed the Lemmon comet to be observed over Bitlis.

Nature observer and astrophotographer Cihan Önen, who is also the Bitlis Representative of the Anatolian Underwater Research and Sports Association (ASAD), successfully captured this rare celestial event using professional photography equipment, along with telescopes and binoculars. Having previously photographed the Atlas comet, Dr. Önen also witnessed the Lemmon comet gliding across the skies of Bitlis.

Although the Lemmon comet is not visible to the naked eye, it can be observed with specialized equipment. This celestial spectacle generated great excitement among nature and space enthusiasts.
